This is a great chicken qorma recipe which is basically chicken in spices and gravy made from onions and yogurt. It’s great for special occasion dinners or just something different you may want to try. Before making anything of course always say Bismillah-irahmaan-iraheem. In the name of Allah most gracious, most merciful, so that you start in His name and add barakah (blessing) to your food!
1 chicken cut
Yogurt- ½ cup
Green peppers- 1 tablespoon
Garlic – 1 tablespoon
Ginger – 1 tablespoon
Salt – 1 tablespoon
Red pepper powder – ¼ tablespoon
Haldi (turmeric) – ½ tablespoon
Paprika – 1/3 tablespoon
Shaan masala “chicken White korma” – 2 tablespoons
Clean the chicken. Cut the onions not so thin because the chopper is going to chop them again. Add onions with oil in a pot and fry them on medium heat until light brown or golden. Don’t overcook. Remove the onions from the oil and set aside for the gravy to be made later. In the remaining oil in the pot, add green peppers, garlic, and ginger. Cook these for a few minutes and then add salt, red pepper, turmeric, paprika, and shaan masala. Once these items add color and flavor to your oil, add the chicken and cook on medium heat for about 7-10 minutes. The point is to cook it so it’s not fully cooked because you will continue to cook after you’ve added your gravy mixture. While the chicken cooks, add the removed, cooked onions to a mini food chopper along with the yogurt. Chop into a blended paste. If you want your gravy more liquid, simply add some milk to get the consistency that you desire. Once the paste/gravy is made, add this to your chicken and mix everything and continue to cook for 15-20 minutes. Make sure chicken is well cooked before turning off the heat and that the oil has separated on top from the rest of the chicken. Garnish with dhania if desired or be ready to enjoy your qorma with naan or rice.
